Syphilis

Argyll-Robertson pupil is a disorder of the eyes, it is a highly specific sign in neurosyphilis. The eyes, usually bilaterally, will constrict when it focuses on a near object (positive accommodation), but pupillary light reflex are absent (inability to react to light/ pupils do not constrict). It is also known as the Prostitute's Pupil because it accommodates but does not react. LOL

One good way to remember Argyl-Robertson pupil is using it as an abbreviation forward and backward
ARP - Accommodation Reflex Present
PRA - Pupillary Reflex Absent

Did you know...? Al Capone is thought to of died of neurosyphilis in 1947. It is believed that he had acquired syphilis from his youth. Maybe he shouldn't have engaged or promoted the prostitution business. Get it?

So we know the epidemic of Small Pox (Variola major/minor) back in the days.. then what was considered the Big Pox? It was thought that the "great" pox was actually Syphilis.
